The Notre Dame football team is going to need to replace a couple of WRs who entered the portal, for Donaven McCulley they don’t need to look outside the state.

So far this week, the transfer portal has been surprisingly harsh to the Notre Dame football team. The Fighting Irish have lost not one but two wide receivers, as well as their wide receiver coach.

Though honestly Marcus Freeman didn’t lose Chansi Stuckey so much as he pushed him out the door. Still, a unit that had some major question marks this past season has even more heading into 2024.

The Fighting Irish are going to need to regroup and reload. Luckily there is a wide receiver looking to transfer who is already familiar with the Hoosier State. He also just happens to be quite talented and put up some very decent numbers for an Indiana squad that had some serious problems scoring.

Donaven McCulley announced his plans to leave not long after the Indiana Hoosers parted ways with head coach Tom Allen. It’s possible that the Golden Domers could find a way to convince him he doesn’t need to go that far away from where he’s spent the last three seasons.

Notre Dame football could find a position of need in the portal

Not only could McCulley offer a warm body to an Irish team struggling to put together a receivers room right now, but his numbers would pretty much replace David Tyree, the first receiver to decide to depart South Bend this winter.

This past season, McCulley led the Hoosiers in catches (48), yards (644) and touchdowns (6). He led all three categories by a wide margin as well. Knowing that, it’s clear the receiver is looking to play for a winning team more than departing for playing time.

Notre Dame football could offer him both.
