Now that Notre Dame football has two transfer receivers in the fold, are the Fighting Irish going to try and add the best of the bunch?

Kris Williams is part of the Fighting Irish. So is Beaux Collins.

Marcus Freeman and company are done now right? Maybe not.

There’s still a transfer portal receiver out there who is interested in Notre Dame football that put up better numbers in 2023 than both of them. The big question is whether or not Josh Kelly is still targeted by the Irish.

Considering the wide receiver class that’s coming into South Bend next season, it seems unlikely. But what if?

If you’re a member of the Notre Dame coaching staff, are you really turning your back on a Washington State receiver who had 61 catches for 900 yards and eight touchdowns?

Of course, there’s also a question as to whether or not Kelly is still looking at the Fighting Irish. While he’d almost certainly be a top contender for a starting receiver, there are other schools where a top-of-the-depth chart spot is all but assured for someone who had the kind of numbers that Josh Kelly did.

Notre Dame football still in the mix for Josh Kelly?

If the Irish are still in the mix for Kelly, it appears the main team they’re going to have to fight off is Texas Tech.

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Kelly will be in Lubbock, checking out what the Red Raiders have to offer from today until Wednesday. That multi-day visit is enough to make anyone nervous.

If the Irish are wanting to add Kelly to what has already become an impressive transfer class, it would help if they had a quarterback to pitch him. Riley Leonard coming to Notre Dame football would certainly be a big step in the right direction.
