All eyes have been on Devin Fitzgerald, son of legendary NFL wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who is currently trying to decide where to commit to play college football. The younger Fitzgerald has had official visits to Notre Dame, Clemson, UCLA, and Stanford, and was set for an official visit to UNC this upcoming weekend, but things seem to have changed.

After attending Notre Dame's biggest recruiting weekend of the summer, Fitzgerald has decided to cancel his official visit to UNC and plans to announce his commitment early in July. Clearly, the visit to South Bend had enough of an impact on Fitzgerald that he felt he didn't even need to see UNC before his commitment.

Cancelling a visit like this spells good news for Notre Dame, as it seems the son of the NFL legend may already have made his decision on where to go. Earlier today, Fitzgerald was predicted to commit to Notre Dame in July, and this news just might have confirmed that prediction.

3-star WR Devin Fitzgerald may have already made up his mind about Notre Dame

It seemed as though Notre Dame's recruiting weekend was as big as advertised, with many recruits enjoying their time in South Bend. It all started with dinner and games at head coach Marcus Freeman's house, and it just went uphill from there.

Recruits were able to be around coaches, players, and other prospects, both committed and still uncommitted, in South Bend for the whole weekend. Fitzgerald spoke about his time in South Bend and how the program was unlike any other program in college football.

Fitzgerald will now have some time to make his final decision on his commitment, as he has no other trip planned for the future until his announcement date, which is July 5. A commitment from a wide receiver of this caliber could be huge for Freeman's offense going forward and help what is already an elite recruiting class.
