The Notre Dame football team continues to roll right along. The Fighting Irish won their ninth game in a row on Saturday night and they did it against an Army Black Knights team that was viewed as a kind of Cinderella team that had plenty of people rooting for them to keep winning.

For most of the evening if seemed as if Notre Dame could do little wrong. They routinely shut down the Cadets and the offense, especially Jeremiyah Love ran over, around and through the Army defense.

But while the Notre Dame football team blew out Army 49-14, there is at least one thing that went very wrong. The Blue and Gold saw young linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa go down early in the game with an apparent injury. He didn’t return to the contest and during his post game press conference, Freeman said that the linebacker suffered a sprained knee.

At the start of the second half, Viliamu-Asa was seen on the sideline without pads and a wrap on his right knee. He did not record any stats despite seeing snaps in the first half. Saturday’s contest marked his first collegiate start.

Over the course of the season, the linebacker has posted 29 tackles 2.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 interception and 1 pass breakup.

As of now, it’s not known whether or not the linebacker will be back for the Notre Dame football team against the USC Trojans. Marcus Freeman should be able to update how long Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa will be out on Monday.
