Ex-Notre Dame football defender stands out for Super Bowl champs
Few former Notre Dame football stars have had better careers in the modern era of the NFL on the defensive side of the ball than Drue Tranquill. The linebacker is starting to look like he could have one of those careers that is impossible as someone who constantly racks up tackles.
After spending his first four years with the San Diego Chargers, Tranquill has spent the last two seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. It's safe to say he certainly enjoyed his first season in Arrowhead, as he won his first Super Bowl title.
This past weekend, the former Notre Dame football star helped his team stay undefeated in a season in which KC has looked mortal, yet no one has been able to knock them off. He was so good, in fact, that according to PFF, he had the highest overall rating of any player on the team. That includes having a better rating than Patrick Mahomes.
Ex-Notre Dame football star stands out
Tranquill finished with a PFF defense grade of 85.1. He earned that by making 6 tackles, including a sack and 4 defensive stops, and recovering a fumble as Kansas City improved to 7-0.
By the way, Tranquill had one of his best games of the season, and a bit of a turnaround after his last two outings were not exactly stellar.
The former Notre Dame football star has 38 tackles on the season. His sack and fumble recovery against the Las Vegas Raiders were the first of the season.
