Stop me if you've heard this before over the last two months. Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team is on an insane recruiting roll. This time, Marcus Freeman and his staff have added yet another elite running back prospect in the former of 4-star Jonaz Walton.
Walton announced he chose the Fighting Irish over Power 4 schools like Alabama, Georgia, Stanford, and Tennessee. His addition to the 2026 recruiting class continues an insane winning streak in April and May for one of the best classes in the country.
Notre Dame football adds 4-star RB Jonaz Walton during scorching recruiting stretch
In the last few weeks, Walton has also become the second 4-star running back the Notre Dame football team has added. He joins Javian Osborne on the commitment list and continues to show the value of position coach Ja'Juan Seider in hauling in pledges.
Notre Dame has recruited Walton for well over a year and he was a top target the entire time. Former running backs coach Deland McCullough made Walton a huge priority, and that continued when Seider was brought in to replace him.
It needs to be said that McCullough played a major role in getting the Irish in a strong position with this talented runner, and Seider did an impressive job getting him over the finish line.
It's an unusual team effort considering it certainly wasn't planned that way. Nevertheless, the Notre Dame football team is reaping the benefits of having two of the best in the business working on a group that will be among the best in the 2026 class.
