Now that the Notre Dame football team has Ellis McGaskin and Teddy Jarrard in the boat, the Fighting Irish are turning their attention to other top players in the class. That includes defensive back Josiah Molden.

Molden is the No. 1 player in the state of Oregon, the No. 14 cornerback, and No. 139 player in the 2027 class. While the Irish are starting to emerge as leaders for the 4-star prospect, there are plenty of other power conference teams, such as Oregon, Washington, and Ohio State, who are banging on the door, hoping to get a commitment.

Notre Dame football is making progress in recruitment of Josiah Molden

According to Rivals' Adam Gorney, the Notre Dame football team is "coming on strong", but the program will have to work hard to separate itself from the crowd.

In addition to the Buckeyes being one of the top rivals, it appears that an old enemy might be the team to beat. Molden spoke with Rivals about his recruitment and how the USC coach Lincoln Riley and the Trojans stack up against the field.

They’re also doing a great job,” Molden said. “They’re texting me and calling me a lot. I really love their DB coach. I feel like he meets all my standards and their defensive coordinator and how they play ball is amazing."

Like Teddy Jarrard, Molden's in for the Irish might be how much he likes the culture of Notre Dame. He said as much when he was talking to Irish Sports Daily.

I feel like a big thing is the culture,” he said about the Notre Dame football program. “Even though I've never been there, they think that the culture is good for me there. Being one of the best DBs in the country is one of the big things too. I think Notre Dame also wants that.”
