In the third round, the New York Giants made quite the splash, with general manager Joe Schoen trading up to take standout Notre Dame receiver Malachi Fields. Almost immediately, Schoen was showered with praise, as it felt like Fields could have been a second-round talent.

Jeremiyah Love choosing the hard way led him to making NFL Draft history

Think he's thankful that the Giants are taking a bit of a shot on him? You better believe it. Now that he's on his way to MetLife Stadium to be a playmaker, Fields wants to make sure he doesn't let Schoen and new head coach John Harbaugh down. Matter of fact, he's ready to prove from Day 1 that they won't regret their decision to move up to take him off the board:

Malachi Fields is ready to prove the Giants right for drafting him

Checking in at 6-4, 225 pounds, Field has tremendous size on the outside and he'll be a great target in the red zone for second-year quarterback Jaxson Dart. Oh, keep in mind too that Malik Nabers is going to be ready to bounce back in a big way after his ACL tear too.

Nabers has been grinding around the clock to be ready for next season and with Harbaugh taking over, the hope is the G-Men can finally turn things around in 2026. With Fields in the mix now on offense, Dart has yet another weapon to work with.

And he'll arrive in the NFC East with a ton of confidence. Last season for the Irish, he posted 36 receptions for 630 yards and five touchdowns. It was his lone season with Notre Dame and Marcus Freeman after spending the previous four years at Virginia.

Fields took advantage of his campaign with the Irish, boosting his NFL Draft stock. During offseason workouts, he impressed scouts and it was clear that the Giants loved what they saw out of the big-bodied wideout. Now, there will be some pressure on him to help turn Big Blue around and be a downfield threat. Fields is fired up to answer the call and thank the Giants by being a stud on the gridiron once next fall gets here. Notre Dame fans are confident he'll be able to do so.
