Marcus Freeman and Notre Dame are set to take on Miami later this year in a night game in November. This is a huge rematch from last season's opener when the Hurricanes came out on top. The Irish have been getting some revenge, though, as of late, on the recruiting trail, proving Notre Dame is still the top dog.
Freeman and the Irish already beat out Mario Cristobal and Miami for five-star offensive tackle Oluwasemilore Olubobola, who made his commitment earlier on Tuesday. Fresh off that recruiting win, Notre Dame is looking to keep the ball rolling and keep Miami down as another five-star target is picking between the Irish and the Hurricanes on Friday.

With the heart of the 2027 recruiting cycle heating up with the summer months approaching and more adn more recruits setting official visits and making commitments, Notre Dame is soaring high right now. Marcus Freeman has already built the foundation for a great 2027 recruiting class, and there are more wins coming in the future.
After earning the commitment from Olubobola over Miami, Freeman has to feel good about where his 2027 recruiting class sits right now. So far, Freeman has 15 commits in the 2027 class, and there are bound to be more coming.
Freeman could add another as early as Friday, May 15, when five-star defensive lineman David Folorunsho announces his commitment live on the Rivals YouTube channel. Rivals recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong knows that this commitment comes down to Miami and Notre Dame yet again, and he likes the Irish in this battle.
Now, Notre Dame and Miami can't forget about Texas Tech either when it comes to this recruiting battle, and the Red Raiders certainly have the money to sway some things here. However, Wiltfong still is leaning toward Notre Dame for this commitment, and it comes down to a lot of variables.
Folorunsho made two trips in the span of a week to South Bend, one with his mom, and he has a lot of ties to Notre Dame with his high school football team, including his head coach, who once played for the Irish.
Notre Dame has also proven it knows how to develop great defensive talent, both on the line and in the secondary. While Miami offers a lot of development too on the defensive side of the ball, there are just so many arrows pointing towards Notre Dame for this commitment.
If Freeman is able to land the commitment from Folorunsho, it would be the second time in the span of days that he has beaten out Cristobal for a five-star recruit, proving Notre Dame is doing everything in its power to take down the Hurricanes in the future.
Freeman continues to be that thorn in the side of Miami and Cristobal, and with the No. 4 recruiting class in the nation, according to 247Sports, he doesn't plan to go anywhere anytime soon either.
