At this point, anyone paying attention to what Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame football coaches are doing on the recruiting trail is coming away impressed. The Irish are on a roll, seemingly securing a 4-star commitment every day. But even those impressed by what the Golden Domers are doing might not have fully wrapped their heads around how impressive, nay, how historic, this streak has been.

On3 analyst Mike Singer put the roll the Irish are on right now earlier this week. When it’s all laid out, it’s clear that not only is the team putting together one of the best recruiting classes in the country, but they’re also putting together one of the best recruiting classes since this kind of thing was tracked.

Notre Dame’s 2026 class tops modern era with 92.84 On3 rating

Singer began by noting that the Notre Dame football team has a 92.84 rating on On3. That’s better than any class since 2013, which is a close second with a 92.74 number. That puts this 2026 class as the best of what is known as the “recruiting” era. An era where sites like On3, Rivals, and 247Sports started keeping track of this sort of thing.

Singer went on to point out that nearly half (10) of Notre Dame's 22 commits rank as top-150 overall players per On3. And finally, the analyst pointed out there are still several 4-star prospects that could commit to the Irish by the end of July.

Brayden Robinson and Devin Fitzgerald are just 4-star wide receivers who are both expected to pull the trigger for the Notre Dame football team. If and when they do, a class that is already raising eyebrows all over the country will take yet another historic step forward.
