Notre Dame has always been known for being that one independent school that finds ways to compete year in and year out. However, with the 4-team College Football Playoff, the Fighting Irish found themselves struggling to get a spot without having an undefeated season and also not having a conference championship.
Now with the 12-team College Football Playoff, Notre Dame has a chance to get in each and every season. Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman is working on making sure the Fighting Irish get into the CFP each season, starting on the recruiting trail.
Freeman is currently putting together one of the best recruiting classes Notre Dame has had in years. The Fighting Irish have the No. 3-ranked class according to 247Sports, the No. 5 class according to On3 Sports, and the No. 3 class according to Rivals.
What developments will today bring in the world of Notre Dame football recruiting? What a week it's already been.

The Irish have not had this type of recruiting momentum/buzz in the six years I've been on the beat.
How we feeling, Notre Dame fans?
Marcus Freeman has had probably the best week of this recruiting cycle
Notre Dame insider Mike Singer hit the nail on the head when saying that this week has been a big one for Notre Dame. After probably their largest set of official visits this past weekend, the Fighting Irish have received multiple commitments throughout the week, including some top-ranked commitments.
Freeman has received a commitment from 4-star offensive lineman Grayson McKeogh, Thomas Davis Jr. closed his recruitment after a visit to Georgia, and said he is sticking with Notre Dame, and is crystal-balled to land NFL legend Larry Fitzgerald's son, Devin Fitzgerald.
It has been a busy week in South Bend, and it doesn't look like it is going to let up anytime soon. Freeman is serious about building the future of this program, and it is showing with the type of recruiting class he is currently building. Notre Dame has a bright future, and more National Championships could be on the horizon at Notre Dame.
