Notre Dame fans should learn the lyrics to Rocky Top according to latest CFP Bracket
It turns out that a 52-3 win over a 1-8 Florida State team has convinced the College Football Playoffs committee that Notre Dame Football does deserve to be in the playoffs. That was witnessed by the Irish moving up one spot in the bracket.
That's the good news. The bad news is that for the second straight week, the rankings have Marcus Freeman's squad going on the road in the first round. If there's a bright side to that, should they move up one more spot over the next three weeks, they'll be hosting the first round matchup. That's hardly a tall task considering the opponents ahead of them.
With the full bracket revealed, Notre Dame football is ranked No. 8 but because of the oddities of the rankings and No. 12 Georgia actually being the first team out, that No. 8 rank means the Irish are the 9th seed. This week's bracket had them traveling to Happy Valley to take on Penn State. This week, they're slated to head to Knoxville to face off against Tennessee.
Notre Dame football gets interesting matchup in latest College Football Playoff Bracket
Of course, one of the oddities to a playoff bracket like this is that if a team isn't getting home field advantage, a lower seed might be a better seed in the long run. Should Notre Dame beat Tennessee, their second round game is against top overall seed Oregon.
Last week, the Irish would have faced off against Texas in the second round.
One thing that is still consistent is that should both teams win all of their games, Notre Dame Football and Indiana University could do the funniest thing possible and make the championship game an all-Hoosier State showdown. IU got the No. 7 seed and would host Alabama in the first round should the season end today.
