The Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball team isn’t facing off against a team that is in the neighborhood of a juggernaut. However, sooner or later, it’s going to get into the heart of the ACC schedule and there will be plenty of juggernauts coming their way.

That’s why the news ahead of Notre Dame’s game against LeMoyne is very much welcomed. That news is that while Markus Burton isn’t back and ready to play in a game yet, it appears he’s making some real progress and could indeed return from his knee injury yet this season. In fact, he might be back sooner than some expected.

Ahead of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish squaring off against a resume padder, Burton was spotted working out. More importantly, he was spotted without a brace, shooting and running a bit while the rest of the team prepared for the game.

Jack Soble reported that Markus Burton looked like he had indeed improved though cautioned the guard wasn’t anywhere near “back.”

“He was shooting around at the other end of the court while his teammates stretched. Seems to still have a slight limp, but better than the last time we saw him.”

After getting injured earlier this month, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish basketball team said that Burton was “week-to-week.” It appears that he’s still a week or two away from getting into games. However, his progress, especially as January gets closer and closer, is a big deal.
