The Notre Dame Fighting Irish baseball team has struggled mightily in the ACC, but they've been downright dominant against their non-conference schedule. That is going to be tested on Wednesday night when they take on a Big Ten program that already has 16 wins this year.

The mid-week tilt will also be a chance for the Blue and Gold to fight off an old rival and get right.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish baseball faces off against Michigan State

The Irish are fresh off the hands of a sweep to the surging Georgia Tech Yellowjackets and those three losses dropped Notre Dame to an embarassing 1-8 in the conference. That record has them dead last in the ACC.

On Wednesday night, the Michigan State Spartans come to town. Against the Irish's non conference, opponents, they are a whopping 11-1 this season. Granted, this is a bit different since Sparty is 16-7 on the season. The game at Frank Eck Stadium has first pitch set for 6pm and will be broadcast on the ACC Network.

Leading the charge for Ayden Pouncey

The Notre Dame football team is hoping to finally land one of the Pounceys after striking out on the first two. Ayden Pouncey looks like he could be the one to finally choose the Irish.

While the Florida 4-star recruit is still considered a lean to the Florida Gators, he did take an unofficial visit to South Bend this weekend and said that he liked what he saw enough that the Irish are officially in the mix. That means they could even get an official visit later this summer.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish will face a new Stanford coach in 2025

The biggest news of the day on Tuesday was the Stanford Cardinal firing head coach Troy Taylor after two seasons. Despite the fact that Taylor was just 6-18 during his tenure in Palo Alto, it was two seperate investigations into the way the coach treated female coworkers that eventually forced GM Andrew Luck's hand.

So far, there's been no mention about who will take over for Taylor, but in the release, there was talk that the program might have an interim coach run things until after the season. Either way, that means the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will face a new coach when they play the Cardinal in November to close out the season.
