Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price were both selected in the NFL Draft's first round on Thursday night. When Price's name was called as the last player of the night, it meant that the Notre Dame Fighting Irish made some pretty incredible history.
According to the school's information department, only three teams have had the top two players at a position taken. Tennessee had two offensive tackles selected in 1991 and Alabama had two wide receivers selected in 2020. The Notre Dame football team became the first squad to have the first two running backs selected in the draft.
Only 3 CFB programs have had the first two players from the same position selected in the same NFL Draft. Tennessee (OT in 1991), Alabama (WR, 2020)

Considering both Love and Price are expected to be the starting running backs for their new respective teams, it yet another feather in the cap for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football program.
More Notre Dame Fighting Irish news
- It turns out, Jeremiyah Love was part of NFL Draft history in a couple of different ways. When he was selected No. 3 overall, he was taken in a draft slot that pays out an absolute ton of money. The Cardinals will give Love a four-year, $50.5 million fully guaranteed rookie deal, making it the most guaranteed money a running back has ever been given in NFL history. That contract is one of the reasons analysts talked quite a bit leading up to the draft about how Arizona should not use its first-round pick on a running back.
- While Love is now a former Notre Dame Fighting Irish star, he knows where he came from. During his post-selection interview, he made a promise to all those who supported him along the way: "I feel very honored to represent the running backs, and I'm going to put on for them. I'm going to put on for all football players, I'm going to put on for Notre Dame, and I'm going to put on for my family. Lastly, I'm going to put on for the Cardinals. We're going to do some special things together."
- While Leonard Moore wasn't eligible for this year's NFL Draft, he got a ton of praise leading up to the day he watched two teammates get selected. Indiana wide receiver Elijah Sarratt said the defensive back was the best opposing player he ever faced. It's thought that Moore will likely be a Top 5 pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.
- Now that Love is officially gone and headed to Arizona, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team gave everyone a parting gift. The school released a nearly 20-minute video featuring every Jeremiyah Love touchdown as a member of the team.
