While the Notre Dame football team is a heavy favorite against Navy on Saturday night, one of the things that always makes the Midshipmen such a concern is how they can sneak up on the bigwigs of the college football world. Earlier this week, Irish safety Adon Shuler tried to lay out just how a team whose offense seems straightforward ends up being such a tough test so often.
"They mess with your head," Shuler said during his time at the mic, talking about Navy. "If you don't have your eyes right, you'll be all over the place. You can't find the ball."

The Notre Dame safety went on to explain that even watching video of the Midshipmen, it can be hard to see exactly who has the ball in their triple-option attack.

"I feel like they do a great job of that on film. Like, even on film, you see them, you don't know where the ball is. And, you know, we just have to kind of be on our keys every play and do our jobs."
Despite the evident respect the Irish star has for this weekend's opponent, the sheer talent gap has served ND well in the 97-year series. Marcus Freeman has never lost to Navy, though in his first year at the helm, they came mighty close, eventually edging out a 35-32 win.
The last two meetings have been blowouts with Notre Dame winning by an average of 38 points. In fact, the less-than-impressive win over Boston College might have been the worst thing that happened to Navy, as it's likely the Irish will enter Saturday night's game looking to make a statement, especially now that the College Football Playoffs rankings are live.
