The Notre Dame football team returns to the field this week and when they do so, they might have a new commit in the fold. That the Irish could finally be getting close to landing another wide receiver commit. They could also be pulling this one from one of the hottest ACC squads out there.

Jalen Cooper got an Irish offer back in August and now it looks like he’s pretty close to pulling the trigger. Of course, because Notre Dame can convince him that South Bend would be the best place for him, they’re going to have to convince the 4-star target that SMU isn’t.

Cooper is officially taking a visit to see Notre Dame football up close and personal this weekend. That means he should get to see an offense that had a week to polish things up take on a Stanford team that hasn’t been particularly impressive so far this season.

Notre Dame currently has two wide receiver commits in the 2025 class, Jerome Bettis Jr. and Elijah Burress, and it’s been pretty clear they want a third. Logan could also play there, but it looks like he’ll start his career on the defensive side of the ball.

It is also possible that the Blue and Gold might take a longer look at Cooper on the offensive side of the ball. That could in fact, be one reason why he’s looking at the Irish over the Mustangs.

Cooper has said that while he’s still committed to SMU, there is one other school that he’s considering. That just happens to be the Notre Dame football team. Now it’s a matter of getting him on campus on Saturday, showing him what the program has to offer, and making a big push.
