Jordan Faison’s 2024 season with the Notre Dame football team wasn’t great. However, the wide receiver did step up big time when the games were the biggest. This month, his attention has once again turned to his other sport. And on Wednesday, head coach Marcus Freeman made it clear that he understands how important it is to Faison to play the Lacrosse season.

However, Freeman and Faison also know how important it is for him to be with the football team during spring practice. The receiver would like 2025 to be his breakout year. And toward that goal, he’s one of the guys who reported to camp on Wednesday morning.

“We enhanced it,” the Notre Dame football head coach said about Jordan Faison’s practice schedule and work load. “It’s still a collaborative effort between the lacrosse program and Coach (Kevin) Corrigan, and the football program. (Director of Sports Performance) John Wagle has been helping out with, ‘Hey, what’s the load? And how much can his body take?”

“To me, it’s still lacrosse season,” Freeman added during his first press conference of spring practice. “And that’s what I told Jordan, ‘If you are making the decision to play lacrosse, you have to be committed to your team.’ How can we tailor and adjust our schedule to make sure that he’s getting enough work in to continuously improve as a football player, but understanding that he has a commitment to the lacrosse team?

"“We’re working together well. He’s getting football, probably getting more football in this spring than he did last year.”"

It helps that the lacrosse team is in the middle of a two week bye period. The season so far, has not gone as they hoped. The two-time defending National Champion lost two in a row to Maryland and Ohio State (both one goal defeats) but bounced back by trouncing Michigan. Their next game comes on March 29 against Duke.

Faison boasts 5 goals and 2 assists in 4 games. But for now, he’ll turn his attention to Notre Dame football.
