As the Notre Dame football team works to bring in the next generation of players, there's now an elite safety prospect who is also a member of a generational All-Name team. The 4-star prospect, who goes by Cornbread Adams, has one of those names that makes every fanbase want him to be part of the team. Even if his real name is Antwaun.
Adams is seeing plenty of changes as he gets ready for his junior season. His prospects have taken off in the last few months. At least some of the reasons why he's seeing so much attention lately.Â
The Notre Dame prospect recently announced he's changing high schools. This coming season, he'll play at one of the country's elite high school football programs. He's leaving Magnolia (MS) South Pike and transferring to Chattanooga (TN) Baylor School, a high school football power.
His changing schools and states is an interesting twist for Cornbread, who will be looking to continue impressing potential schools with a change of scenery and teammates. Of course, he's already shown enough talent that those offering him scholarships, including the Fighting Irish, think he'll do just fine.
Cornbread Adams gives Notre Dame football another elite 2028 safety target
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound 4-star safety is ranked as the No. 110 player in the 2028 class, the No. 10 player at his position, and the No. 4 player in the state of Tennessee, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. In addition to Notre Dame, Adams has offers from Auburn, California, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Memphis, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Tulane among many others.
Adams started on both sides of the ball for South Pike, which went 3-7 in 2025, last season, as the rising junior totaled 25 tackles and three picks on defense and caught 25 passes for 466 yards as a wide receiver. The safety is ranked as the No. 5 player in Mississippi, No. 13 nationally at his position, and No. 115 in the country, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings.
Notre Dame still has quite a fight. Considering that Cornbread Adams only got their offer earlier this week. Plans are almost certainly underway to have him come to South Bend for an unofficial visit. Once he sees how his talents could fit into Chris Ash's defense, especially since the safety position has been one of the best in college football.
