While the Notre Dame football team is mostly done putting together its 2027 recruiting class, it appears there is at least one player it wouldn't mind adding just ahead of signing day. It helps that Daveon Belhomme has the Fighting Irish in his final two as we move to just over a month from when players can officially pick their new school.
Belhomme recently told On3 that he is seriously considering committing to the Irish and that they have stood out from a crowd that has suddenly included quite a few Power 4 teams. Over the summer, he was considered a fringe prospect who would end up at a school like Wake Forest. Since his senior season started, coaches have noticed that he's got the kind of talent that translates to the very best teams in the sport.
While Notre Dame is showing some serious interest, Belhomme has also gotten offers from the likes of Ole Miss, Florida State, Auburn, and Texas A&M since the fall began.
Belhomme is a 3-star cornerback in the 2027 recruiting class. The 6-foot-1, 186-pound defensive back plays for Clearwater Central Catholic High School in Clearwater, Florida. Belhomme also plays wide receiver and contributes in the return game for the Marauders.

Notre Dame football reaches final two for late-rising 2027 cornerback Daveon Belhomme
Despite getting quite a few Power 4 offers of late, the defensive back is still very much a diamond in the rough type player that Notre Dame is no doubt looking at because it already has the No. 3 class in the country and can afford to take some flyers on players that aren't highly rated but have shown the coaches something they believe will translate well to the college game.
Belhomme is ranked as the No. 1,003 player in the 2027 class, the No. 107 player at his position and the No. 96 player in the state of Florida according to the latest Rivals Industry Rankings.
Notre Dame got into the race for Belhomme earlier this month and almost immediately leaped to the top of the heap.
As a junior at Clearwater Central Catholic in 2025, Belhomme recorded 51 tackles, three pass breakups and one interception on defense. Offensively, MaxPreps credits him with 10 receptions for 154 yards and one touchdown, averaging 15.4 yards per catch. He also returned three punts for 64 yards, averaging 21.3 yards per return, and finished with 218 all-purpose yards.
So far this season, Belhomme has recorded 44 total tackles, including 26 solo tackles and 18 assists, with 2 tackles for loss, 8 pass breakups, 4 interceptions and 1 forced fumble. Offensively, he has caught 18 passes for 246 yards and 1 touchdown. Belhomme has also been a major factor on special teams, including a 90-yard kickoff-return touchdown. Earlier in the season he also completed his only recorded pass attempt for a 40-yard touchdown.
Belhomme will visit Notre Dame on November 14 for their game against Boston College. If he likes what he sees in South Bend, there's a strong chance he could join the Fighting Irish by 2027.
