Notre Dame football fans know that the Fighting Irish are on quite the recruiting run in May. ND's latest commit, David Folorunsho, is one of the best of the bunch, offering 5-star talent at a position Marcus Freeman and Co. need badly in the very near future. Better than that, David Folorunsho coach, who also happens to be a former Golden Domer legend, Tom Zbikowski believes the defensive tackle brings something to South Bend the program hasn't had for a while.
“He doesn’t even know how good he can be." Zbikowski told On3's Mike Singer after Folorunsho committed to the Irish. "He can physically take over a game. He plays angry, and we haven’t seen someone like him at Notre Dame in a long time.”
Folorunsho, who moved to the United States from Nigeria when he was 11 years old, has become a coveted football prospect over the last several months, and his recruiting process came to an end on May 15. He committed to Notre Dame over Miami, Texas Tech and others. Hes' also one of those players that his high school coaches say still has some growing to do that will make him even better.

David Folorunsho gives Notre Dame football a raw, angry edge Tom Zbikowski can help sharpen
Just how good the defensive tackle can be once he gets to South Bend and starts learning the college game is clear when looking at the 247Sports scouting report on his strengths and weaknesses.
- Explosive interior defender with the get-off, quickness and hands to be a difference-maker up front.
- Owns a squatty and compact build, but has a longer wingspan and could eventually play at 300 pounds.
- Fires hips through contact.
- Slips blocks with a brawler mentality.
- Agile enough to quickly plant and redirect.
- Empties the tank while in chase mode.
- Got looks up and down the line as a junior while also doubling as a blocking back on offense and should offer the same alignment possibilities in college as he can shade up or over a guard.
- Will need to keep improving his play-strength and mastering his craft, but projects as a potential impact player for a College Football Playoff hopeful with his range and energy.
That last line is the one that stands out at the moment. He's Folorunsho is someone who definitely needs to master his craft. He's someone that has to get a little better before he can be one of the absolute best defensive tackles in the game.
The good news is that with a former Fighting Irish legend in Zbikowski as his high school coach, he can still learn his craft better in his final year with St. Patrick (Chicago, IL). It's especially an added boon that his coach not only knows where the defender is going, but also has a better idea of how to prepare for the next step.
It's clear that Notre Dame got a very good defensive lineman. If he can live up the "play angry" scouring report that the former Irish legend claims he can be, David Folorunsho will finish his career in South Bend with lots of accolades.
