The Notre Dame football team struck out the first time it tried to land Dre Quinn, but now it's got another shot.
Quinn, a 4-star defensive back according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, recently decommitted from the Clemson Tigers. Now the Irish might have a chance to get back in the hunt. The question is whether Marcus Freeman and Co. will bother to try and land the talented defender, or whether it might be too late at this point in the cycle.
Notre Dame football recruiting faces stiff competition for Dre Quinn
Notre Dame likes to feel as though its recruiting class is wrapped up early. Freeman has managed to do that in the last two cycles. For now, he's wrapped up the 2026 class without the addition of Dre Quinn. However, with the defender now looking for a new landing spot, it would be hard to completely ignore his siren song.
There are also some roadblocks in the form of other big schools that might have been working Quinn harder than the Irish did the last few weeks. Tennessee has made a strong impression. Texas remains in the mix as well. The Longhorns had momentum before Clemson landed Quinn's commitment, and a return trip to Austin is possible. Georgia Tech is also a contender, with Quinn almost visiting for the Clemson game. The Yellow Jackets continue to pursue him actively.
There's also talk of a new school that has entered the conversation: Ohio State. Quinn is considering a trip to Columbus. So far, it doesn't appear as if the Notre Dame football team has really got a foot in the door. Of course, that could change now that Quinn has made it clear he's gettable with the right approach.
