Geordan McKnight has drawn considerable attention from Notre Dame lately. That attention has paid off: he plans to visit South Bend next week, when the Fighting Irish take on the Miami Hurricanes. Meanwhile, the coaching staff is making sure he knows he's one of their top targets.

Defensive backs coach Aaron Henry recently stopped by McKnight's high school during the bye week. Henry and safeties coach Jevaughn Codlin also make a point of contacting the Blue Chip prospect weekly.

"Just keep balling like I'm balling," McKnight told Irish Sports Daily about the message the Notre Dame coaches deliver when they talk to him. "They want me to be there, and they just like our relationship. They want to keep up with our relationship."

McKnight is a 4-star safety in the 2028 recruiting class. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound defensive back plays for Pickerington North High School in Pickerington, Ohio. McKnight is primarily recruited as a safety but also plays cornerback and contributes in the return game for his school. He's ranked as the No. 187 player in the 2028 class according to the latest 247Sports Composite.

In addition to Notre Dame, McKnight has nearly 40 scholarship offers, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, UCLA, and USC, among others.

McKnight is scheduled to visit Indiana on Halloween before returning to Notre Dame on November 7 for the Fighting Irish’s game against Miami. The Notre Dame trip will be his third visit to South Bend. McKnight has said he could begin narrowing his recruitment as early as December and intends to commit before the start of his 2027 senior season.

As a sophomore in 2025, McKnight recorded 40 tackles, six interceptions, nine pass breakups and four forced fumbles while scoring two defensive touchdowns. He returned his six interceptions for 134 yards and finished second in Ohio Division I in interceptions. McKnight earned first-team all-district and second-team All-Ohio honors.

The talented athlete has definitely noticed the attention Notre Dame has shown him, and it has gone a long way. "It means a lot to me," McKnight said. "I appreciate it a lot. I'm very grateful for it because they don't have to do that, so I'm very grateful that they do do that."
