Notre Dame snagged a rare blend of humility and star power, says commits coach

One of the things that makes this recruiting run of the Notre Dame football program impressive is that while they pull in talented players, they’re also bringing in quality people. While most programs claim to do so, they are very obviously doing it. All you need to do is ask Ian Premer’s high school coach to confirm that.

“Ian is such a special kid,” Great Bend High School head coach Erin Beck says. “We'll never see anything like him in all aspects.”

HS coach: Ian Premer brings “one-of-a-kind” presence to Notre Dame football

“Obviously, every kid who goes to Notre Dame, you probably feel like he’s one of one in their programs,” Beck told Irish Sports Daily. “That's one of the biggest things that Ian and I talked about was, 'You're going to walk into a locker room full of Ian Premers and to be on the field with those types of kids is pretty special.’”

So just how does Premer stand out from the crowd, according to Beck?

“He's had a lot of pressure on him from the time he was a little kid and the thought of going to a Notre Dame and just being able to be Ian and not have to wear this Superman cape that he's had to wear for so long. I think he's excited to just go and be part of a program, be part of something that's bigger than him.”

The Notre Dame football team team surprised some when it hauled in Premer, mainly because he was the second tight end they’ve hauled in over a short period. Now he’ll get the chance to prove his coach right.
