Notre Dame football impresses top linebacker prospect with 'special' visit

Notre Dame football made a strong impression on the top 2026 linebacker during his visit, which he called the best one yet. Will the Irish close the deal?

The Notre Dame football team is having a nice little run on the recruiting trail recently. There are some indications that the Irish might land wide receiver Derek Meadows. They also just landed one of the best players in the 2026 class in Thomas Davis.

Now Marcus Freeman’s squad could land the top linebacker in the 2026 class. They had Tank King into town for the game against Florida State. They showed him just how good the defense can be. And he liked what he saw.

“This visit was a special one and the best one I have been to,” King told Rivals after he left South Bend. That’s very good news for Notre Dame Football. Now they just need to close the deal.

Rivals has King as the top linebacker in the entire class. It also has him as the No. 5 player in the state of Texas. And the No. 42 player in the 2026 cycle.

He was offered on Pot of Gold day earlier this spring. The Irish have been working on him since. They’ve still got their work cut out for them. He’s seen as a heavy lean to stay in the Lone Star state.

He’s thought to be favoring the Texas A&M Aggies. If he doesn’t go to College Station, he could be looking at the Texas Longhorns.

At the same time, King seems to be sincere in saying Notre Dame Football stood out from the crowd. The Irish might be in this fight in a way they weren’t before the weekend. This will be an interesting one to watch over the next year.
