Top LB prospect is impressed with Notre Dame football defense
The Notre Dame football team is prepping for the final push to make the playoffs. They are also pushing to get some of the best recruits in the country to South Bend for their first, second, third or however many visits they decide they want to take.
One player that the Fighting Irish would love to haul in would be Tank King. The 4–star linebacker out of Port Arthur, Texas is one of the best players in the 2026 class. That’s likely why the best teams in the Lone Star state are hard after him.
Despite Texas A&M, Texas and Houston all high up on his preferences list, according to On3, King has liked what he’s seen of the Notre Dame football team. In fact, he’s planning on going back to South Bend in the not too distant future.
Notre Dame football makes big impression on big prospect
Notre Dame hosted King for the Blue-Gold Game in April and the Texas native left impressed with what the program had to offer on and off the field. Those relationships continued into the fall as King has maintained consistent communication with Marcus Freeman and company.
“Notre Dame is family,” King told Irish Sports Daily. “We have stayed in touch since I came the first time. They are always checking on me and my family and grades. The relationship is a real one.”
The Irish will need to keep working that relationship. It looks like the Texas teams are still the ones to beat. However, the linebacker has said he saw a defense that was flying around when it was playing the Aggies and that impressed him.
“I'm getting close to narrowing it down to a top group,” said King. “Notre Dame is in that group because of the direction the program is heading. Plus, Notre Dame is family.”
