Top Notre Dame football defender named as finalist for second postseason trophy
Jack Kiser has had a heck of a season for the Notre Dame football team. Not only is he putting up big numbers but he’s set a school record for appearances. The only way you do that kind of thing is if you’re a very talented player. He fits that bill.
One other way you can tell he’s had a very good year. He’s racking up the watch list honors for postseason awards.
The Notre Dame football linebacker already has been named a finalist for the Campbell Trophy, which honors players for on-field performance, academic performance and community service. Now, he can add being a finalist for the Wuerffel trophy to his resume.
Notre Dame football star adds another finalist watch list to his resume
Kiser has been named one of three finalists for the Wuerffel Trophy alongside Penn State offensive lineman Nick Dawkins and Washington State kicker Dean Janikowski. This award is given to the player “who best combines exemplary community service with leadership achievement on and off the field”. The winner will be announced live on ESPN on Dec. 12 and be invited to the Heisman Trophy festivities.
Earlier in the season he was also named to the AFCA Good Works Team and getting down to being the final three on the list is just more recognition for the Notre Dame football captain. Winning the award would certainly be a capper to his final season in South Bend after what has been a stellar career both on and off the field.
