Jadarian Price return gives Seahawks another chance to unleash former Notre Dame star

Former Notre Dame running back Jadarian Price's rookie season hasn't gone as well as he hoped. Even before he went on IR for a few weeks, he wasn't getting the carries he should have. However, even when he wasn't getting the touches his talent suggested he should, he still looked like he could be an impact player later in the season.

Alas, he did indeed go on the IR, but on Thursday he was activated by the Seattle Seahawks and has officially returned to practice. He'll now be able to start playing again, hopefully this Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

Price, who missed the last four games with a chest injury, got a chance to play in Monday night's game, though it is still very much up in the air how many touches he'll get if he does play.

Price has appeared in three games for the Seahawks so far this year. He has 119 yards rushing on 28 carries but no touchdowns. Perhaps as a statement on the health of the Seahawks' running game (or lack thereof), Price is still the team's second-leading rusher. Emmanuel Wilson leads the team with 403 yards (3.6 YPC) and 3 touchdowns.

Price and former Notre Dame backfield mate Jeremiyah Love can likely commiserate on how their rookie campaigns have gone. Love has missed time recently with an ankle injury, and while he hasn't been on the IR yet, he didn't practice this week, so he'll likely miss Sunday's game as well.

Earlier this season, the two backs faced each other head-to-head for the first time in their careers when the Seahawks beat the Cardinals 31-7. Because of the blowout, Love didn't get many yards, and Price first suffered his chest injury in that game, though he was able to play through it. Because of that, the battle of the 1st-round draft picks wasn't quite as spectacular as people hoped.

Over three seasons at Notre Dame, Price compiled 1,692 rushing yards and 21 TDs on 280 attempts, for 6.0 yards per carry. He also had three receiving scores. He shared carries with Love during his time there.
