Former Notre Dame football wide receiver and kick returner Jayden Harrison officially has his shot in pro football. It's just not in the NFL. At least not yet.
Instead, the speedster is headed to the Great White North. The CFL's Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced on Monday that they'd signed Harrison to a deal to play with them for the upcoming season.
Jayden Harrison gives Notre Dame football another pro football story to follow closely
The former Notre Dame football star signed with the CFL squad just a month ahead of the league's start to the 2026 season. The 2026 CFL season will feature an 18-game, 21-week regular season followed by playoffs. Nine teams compete for the 113th Grey Cup, which will be held on November 15, 2026, in Calgary.
Harrison was always used as more of a kick returner than a receiver in South Bend. However, he did tally 19 catches for 211 yards and 1 TD in his only season with the Fighting Irish. In a five-year career that started at Vanderbilt and included three seasons with Marshall. In his career, he had 90 catches for 990 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Jayden Harrison’s speed and return ability could make him a CFL weapon quickly
His numbers as a kick returner were quite a bit more impressive. In his career, he notched 76 kick returns for 1,842 yards and 4 touchdowns. With Notre Dame he had 12 returns for 320 yards and a score.
Harrison will always be remembered for his 98-yard kickoff return against the Georgia Bulldogs in the 2025 Sugar Bowl, helping the Irish make the College Football Playoff championship game. For that play, he'll always be a Fighting Irish legend.
It will certainly be interesting to see how Jayden Harrison transitions from Notre Dame to the CFL. The rules and field are different enough that it takes some adjustment. However, his blazing speed certainly sets him apart.
