While the Notre Dame football team is currently winning a close battle with the USC Trojans, the Irish will be without one of its biggest offensive stars for the rest of the game.

Jeremiah Love had to leave early in the second half of the game with what is thought to be a knee injury. It’s not entirely clear just how severe the injury is as the running back was spotted on the bike, apparently trying to stay loose.

However, whether it was because Love is too hurt, or the Notre Dame football team feels as though a 14-point lead is enough to rest one of its best players, it was reported first by CBS that the running back is not coming back into the game.

Notre Dame football star to miss the rest of USC game

While the only thing that has been confirmed is that it was a right leg injury, whatever is bothering Love is far more concerning for whatever comes after the USC game than this weekend.

Should the Irish hold onto win the game against the Trojans, they will almost certainly host a home playoff game in the first round. For Saturday, it helps that Jadarian Price has been having a fantastic game in place of Love.

As of writing, Price has just 9 carries for 103 yards and a touchdown and is averaging over 11 yards per carry.

The Notre Dame football team currently leads 35-21 in a game that has more offense than anyone expected, but for now it appears the Irish have things in hand.
