It’s not like Jeremiyah Love is a secret that Notre Dame football has been keeping all that well. The running back had the kind of season that had him explode onto the scene. Especially when he had a 97-yard run against Indiana and a big tough run against Penn State in the playoffs.
However, despite the fact that Love had a very, very good 2024 season, he was largely an afterthought when talking about the best running backs in the country. Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty and Arizona State’s Cam Skattebo stole most of the headlines.
Notre Dame football has home run threat in Jeremiyah Love
However, it feels like 2025 could be all about Jeremiyah Love. The Notre Dame football team’s starting running back has gotten a lot of … ahem, love of late. The latest was analyst J.D. Pickell focusing in on the speedster.
Jeremiyah Love is explosive enough to carry the Irish offense back to the playoff but Marcus Freeman using his playmaker blueprint in recruiting is scaryhttps://t.co/DERuprwIF0 pic.twitter.com/cLsrTVcYTQ

In a recent podcast, Pickell focused in on the home run ability of Love’s and how it’s better than the Fighting Irish have had in quite some time. Pickell was quite impressed this season with Love’s explosive ability and thinks he’s going to be an even bigger weapon this fall.
Jeremiyah Love offers blueprint for Notre Dame football recruiting
“I don't know that Notre Dame has had a player as explosive as him in recent memory, like the first name that came to mind for me at least when we were talking about this in the office was Will Fuller, the wide receiver. Different player,” Pickell said. “Felt like same home run ability like Jeremiah Love.”
The analyst also laid out that it’s not just about what Love can offer to the 2025 team but what it means for building the program.
“I think the dangerous thing with him is, you talk about Marcus Freeman and the recruiting trail and what they're doing rebranding Notre Dame. A special player like Jeremiah Love being at Notre Dame at a time like this, what does That means for recruiting, it means you have a blueprint to pitch to any kind of playmaker at the running back position.”
Jeremiah Love quick stat check
- 2024 Rushing Yards: 1,125
- 2024 Receiving Yards: 237 on 28 catches
- 2024 Total TDs: 19
- Best Game: Love had 130 yards on just 7 carries (18.6 YPC) and 2 TDs against previously undefeated Army.
Jeremiyah Love’s stats were hampered a bit because the Notre Dame football team used a two-back attack for the season that saw him sharing carries with Jadarian Price and freshman Aneyas Williams at times. His quarterback, Riley Leonard also had his fair share of carries as he had 20 more carries than Love for 906 yards and 17 touchdowns of his own.
