With Notre Dame football officially engaged in spring practice, it’s time once again for the debate over just what Jordan Faison should be focusing on among Irish fans to spark back up.
Faison is a talented athlete who, since coming to South Bend, has excelled in not one but two sports. And his dual focus has been a bone of contention mainly because he’s such a good player in both sports, the assumption is he would be even better if he focused on one. However, it’s become clear that Faison wants to do both football and lacrosse and one Notre Dame analyst is all in on letting him do whatever works for him.
“He does need the reps,” Blue and Gold analyst Tyler Horka said over the weekend. “I think he would have been better last year had he been all in on football all year.” And that's why we have people on our message board saying he should choose football. Well, guess what, guys? He's a really good lacrosse player and he's helping a back-to-back national champion try to get back there, go back to back-to-back.” He added about the Notre Dame football star.
Jordan Faison has WR1 potential if he were to pour every ounce of attention into football … but people need to stop demanding he do so.

He’s really darn good at lacrosse, too, and that’s the original reason he came to Notre Dame. Let him do both. pic.twitter.com/EJlXoFH6Mx
Notre Dame football star Jordan Faison is sticking with two sports
“So not surprised he's playing lacrosse,” Horka added. “Pretty surprised to see him do as much as he did on the football field yesterday.”
And that of course, is the x-factor. Faison is with the Irish this spring practice session after skipping it last year to fully spend his time with the lacrosse unit. That means he’s essentially practicing with two very physical squads at the same time.
How his body reacts to that is going to be interesting to watch. And then of course, there’s how he performs both for lacrosse and for football. So far this spring, he’s played in four games and started one. He’s scored 5 goals and has 2 assists.
How he performs for the Notre Dame football team over the spring and then into the fall will be the real test as to how well all of this is working.
