The Notre Dame football team is not just gearing up for a barn burner of a game against Texas A&M on Saturday night; they're also having a massive recruiting weekend. Just one more reason as to why the Irish have to find a way to beat the Aggies is that a legacy prospect, Julius Jones Jr, will be in attendance and might even be on "commit watch."
All told, 24 commitments, nearly 30 offered targets in the 2027 class, and a handful of talented underclassmen are set to visit South Bend this weekend. Of those, Jones might be one of, if not the most important, visitors on the list.
Julius Jones Jr. headlines massive Notre Dame football recruiting weekend
The biggest reason why the Notre Dame football team needs to find a way to land the 4-star 2027 wide receiver is that his father is a much-loved former running back for the Irish, Julius Jones Sr.
However, that's far from the only reason the Fighting Irish would love to get the commitment of the younger Jones and get it as soon as possible. There's also the issue of him being an explosive slot receiver who hails from one of the top high schools in the country.
This is also a situation where Marcus Freeman and Co. are going head-to-head against Penn State. ND has had several recruiting battles with James Franklin and the Nittany Lions of late.
In addition to Penn State, the Notre Dame football team is trying to fight off plenty of power teams like Florida, Miami, LSU, and Oregon.
