With Notre Dame football’s 2027 recruiting class nearly wrapped up, the Fighting Irish are moving their focus to 2028. One of the players now drawing the attention of Marcus Freeman, Charlie Partridge, and the rest of the staff is Buford, Georgia EDGE Luke Nabors.
Despite now living in the Peach State, Nabors is originally from Chicago, Illinois, and, as a result, he grew up an Irish fan. The fandom, in turn, made the staff's offer last week that much more special.
"This one was definitely exciting," Nabors told Irish Sports Daily about the Notre Dame offer. "Definitely one of the bigger ones from all the offers that I have. They instantly rose up my list." The offer came during a phone call with defensive line coach Charlie Partridge.
Nabors said that during the conversation, he was able to tell Partridge why the offer moved the Irish up the list quickly. “Because Chicago doesn't really have a lot of college teams there, I kind of moved on to Notre Dame."
Luke Nabors says Notre Dame football offer instantly moved Irish up his list
Nabors is ranked No. 265 nationally, No. 24 at his position, and No. 34 in the state of Georgia. He’s also someone who is rising up the ranks and the radar of many teams. In addition to the Irish, he has offers from Auburn, Colorado, Florida State, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, and USC, among many others. In all, he has more than 30 offers. That’s quite an impressive number for a player who still can’t sign with anyone until next December.
The 6-foot-4, 202-pounder has never been to South Bend, but hopes to make his first trip for a game this fall while continuing to create bonds with the coaches.
"I definitely want to get on campus soon for a game," Nabors said. "I want to build the relationship more and get to know more of the coaching staff."
The Georgia native also plans to visit schools such as Indiana, Georgia, Texas, Miami, and Texas Tech during the season as he continues working through an extensive offer list.
Notre Dame will work hard to make sure that he comes and sees the campus when it’s at its best on gameday. With the Fighting Irish already having a leg up as far as being one of his childhood favorites, it seems like Luke Nabors is someone that will need to be pried away from Marcus Freeman and Co. when the time comes rather than the other way around.
