Notre Dame football head coach Marcus Freeman talked mostly about his own win against the Stanford Cardinal when he gave his weekly press conference. However, he did talk a little bit about the incident that happened during the Georgia-Mississippi State game.

Freeman stayed away from offering up an opion on the incident himself. He said he hadn't had a chance to see exactly what happened.

However, the Notre Dame football coach was asked because Georgia's Kirby Smart shoved a Mississippi State player during the game. Smart was angry and yelling at the refs and the player appeared to be in his way.

Notre Dame football coach talks Georgia shoving incident

The incident went off without any sort of escalation, to the Bulldogs' player's credit. It appears he was more confused than anything as to why an opposing coach was shoving him. He didn't see it as something that needed to escalate.

For his part, Freeman didn't want to escalate things either. He said he hadn't watched the video yet but that when it comes to those sort of situations, “the general rule of thumb is use common sense."

Where was the common sense?

For whatever reason, Kirby Smart hasn't come under any fire for an incident that looked an awful lot like the one that got former Ohio State head coach Woody Hayes fired. He sort of apologized for the incident but it's definitely odd that there hasn't been more talk about the situation.

He definitely didn't utilize any common sense. He lost control and pushed an opposing player while he was yelling at a ref ... during a win.

Georgia has a culture problem. And it starts with the man at the top. And while Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman won't say that out loud, it sure seems like he believes it deep down.
