With just a few months until Notre Dame officially locks down its 2027 class, it’s working hard to start building its 2028 class next. The latest target from the SEC’s backyard could be one of the best commits the Irish get if they can lock down Maximus Curry.
Marcus Freeman’s crew has just started building a relationship with the talented wideout, with an official offer going out earlier this month. However, now that they have their foot in the door, they’ve got plenty of time to make their case, as long as they can keep the Tennessee Volunteers away.
Maximum Curry is a 4-star wide receiver in the 2028 recruiting class. The 5-foot-10, 177-pound wide receiver plays for Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, Tennessee. He’s ranked the No. 136 player in the 2028 class, the No. 19 player at his position, and the No. 7 player in Tennessee, according to the latest 247 Composite Rankings.
Curry has accumulated more than a dozen scholarship offers so far. In addition to Notre Dame and Tennessee, Curry has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, Miami, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest, among others.

During his recruitment, Curry has taken several unofficial visits to top programs. He unofficially visited Tennessee, attending their game against Oklahoma on November 1, 2025. He also checked out Notre Dame last October. Curry has a busy schedule of planned future unofficial visits for the remainder of the 2026 season. His upcoming itinerary includes expected trips to Alabama and Miami, as well as a return to Knoxville for the Tennessee vs. Alabama game and potentially the Tennessee vs. Texas game.
It’s easy to see why some of the best programs in the country want to land the wide receiver. As a sophomore at Battle Ground Academy in 2025, Curry was a standout offensive weapon. He tallied 57 receptions for 1,404 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns, ranking in the top four in the state of Tennessee high schools in receiving yards.
Even as a freshman, he made an impact, catching 27 passes for 278 yards and 3 touchdowns. So far this season, Curry has caught 19 passes for 381 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 17.1 yards per catch. He has also accumulated 419 total all-purpose yards, according to MaxPreps.
The next step for Notre Dame will be securing another visit from Curry. With his busy schedule this fall, it seems far more likely he’ll check out South Bend for a second time next spring. If Marcus Freeman can get that set up, all bets are off.
