The Notre Dame football team is kicking the tires on a ton of 2028 quarterbacks with hopes that they can zero in on its top prospect for the class in the next few weeks. Neimann Lawrence could be the guy, as there's definite interest between the gunslinger and the Fighting Irish.

Quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli has been quite busy the last few months. He was busy locking down Wonderful Terrific "Champ" Monds earlier this spring. He's also gone out and worked on getting the next Monds or CJ Carr in the 2028 and 2029 classes. During that work, he's forged a good relationship with Lawrence and as the QB starts moving towards a commitment, the Golden Domers look to be in good shape.

"The relationship Coach Gino and I have been building has been phenomenal," Lawrence recently told On3's Mike Singer. "I love the relationship I’ve been building with those guys (head coach Marcus Freeman and Guidugli), and they’ve been recruiting down here in my hometown," the quarterback added about Notre Dame's effort in the Sunshine State.

Neimann Lawrence, a 6-foot, 1-inch and 202-pound quarterback who is rated as the No. 5 QB, No. 8 player in the state of Florida, and the No. 54 player in the entire class according to the 247Sports Composite. The gunslinger from American Heritage High School (Plantation, FL). While he's built up a heck of a rapport with the Irish coaches, they're far from the only team coming hard after him.

Neimann Lawrence gives Notre Dame football another major 2028 quarterback race to watch

In all, the 4-star prospect has received offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Colorado, FIU, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Illinois, LSU, Memphis, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Purdue, SMU, South Florida, Syracuse, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UCF, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.

As AtoZSports puts it, it's not hard to figure out why there are so many schools after him:

"Notre Dame got on Lawrence extremely early and has already hosted him for multiple visits. While he is a smaller quarterback at 6-0.5 and 202 pounds, Lawrence has an extremely live arm. He is a very smooth signal caller who can throw well on the run, while also navigating pockets extremely well. Don’t let that aforementioned size fool you. Lawrence is a very gifted player, coming over to American Heritage this offseason after starring for Miami Northwestern previously. The Fighting Irish staff has put themselves in a great spot early on."

Despite clearly having a fondness for the Irish, Lawrence is playing things relatively close to the vest. He last visited South Bend at the end of March, and he named Freeman and Co. among his top 10. He hasn't officially cut down the list beyond those 10.

Notre Dame obviously wants to get Neimann Lawrence into town for an official visit. However, he's also not the only 2028 quarterback the school is looking at by a long shot. Among those other candidates for the commit from this cycle is Brady Quinn, the talented signal-caller with the famous name. It appears much like it has in years past; it is looking to stage a race to commit.
