Notre Dame Football jumps one seed and is now the six seed as they enter Championship Saturday. The Irish sit at 11-1 after their tenth straight win Saturday afternoon over USC and will now rest until the final rankings come out on Dec. 8.

Irish fans learned Tuesday night that they have secured a home playoff game in South Bend, but it now depends on who will travel to Notre Dame Stadium.  The highest seed the Irish can be is the five seed due to them being in the Independence and the top four seeds go to the top four highest conference champions.

Having a home field playoff game is a huge advantage for the Irish as if the season ended today Alabama would come into South Bend and the two powerhouse schools would face off for the first time since the BCS championship game in 2013. The first round of the twelve team playoffs will be Dec. 20 or 21.

Notre Dame football fans have a lot to watch

Irish fans should be glued to their TV’s Saturday as there are scenarios where they can move up to the five seed, stay at six but also a chance they can fall to the seven seed. The five seed is the dream scenario for college football fans as currently that seed faces Arizona State and then Boise State in the quarterfinals.

If the Irish were to be given the five seed after Championship Saturday, College Football social media would be upset as many fans claim the Irish have the worse loss on the season and should not host a playoff game. However, Marcus Freeman believes that loss was a blessing in disguise and shaped the team to who they are today.

Notre Dame Football now has three weeks off until the first round playoffs and hopefully will be able to get healthy. Irish fans should be excited and not be worried who they are lined up against, this team by the numbers and eye test is a top five team and a championship contender.
