Notre Dame and Miami's rivalry has moved to a different level in the last few years. While the two teams are meeting again on the field next November, they're also going head-to-head in recruiting early and often. That rivalry was renewed earlier this week when Quentin Burrell announced his Top 10 teams, and both the Fighting Irish and the Hurricanes made the cut.

In addition to those two schools, the wide receiver is looking at Missouri, Vanderbilt, Indiana, Arizona State, LSU, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Michigan. All of those programs are going to be hard to beat, though the Irish might have the inside track.

Burrell is a 4-star prospect who is the No. 62 overall prospect and No. 12 wide receiver in America per the 2027 Rivals Industry Ranking. Back in 2025, Rivals analyst Mike Singer put in an official prediction for Marcus Freeman and Co., even though Singer said at the time he understood that Burrell wasn't really close to pulling the trigger.

Notre Dame continues to be the only school that has gotten an official prediction for the Illinois star, but considering how long ago that prediction was, it makes sense to wonder whether it's still accurate. Some Michigan analysts have said there's been a lot of smoke between Burrell and the Wolverines, adding another bump in the road.

Burrell has locked in an unofficial visit to Missouri on March 13, and he's set to be back at Notre Dame on April 1. LSU is also on the itinerary with a visit scheduled for April 9. Burrell will add more stops as he works through the rest of his finalists. Burrell has already been on campus in Coral Gables, visiting for Miami's win over Florida early in the 2025 season.

It feels like the road to a commitment for Quentin Burrell is still a long one, but Notre Dame has to like where it's sitting today.
