With the Tuesday commitment of Abraham Sesay, defensive line coach Charlie Partridge is on quite a heater. The 5-star Edge is the latest addition to the Notre Dame 2027 class, and a defensive line that looks like it will keep the Fighting Irish front plenty scary to its opponents for the foreseeable future.

Of course, Sesay is the big winner here when all is said and done. He’ll get to take advantage of a football program that has long been one of the country’s most well-known. He’ll also get to play for a program that is very much on the upswing under head coach Marcus Freeman. And when his playing days are over, Sesay can rely on a fantastic education that prepares everyone who comes through South Bend for life after football.

Speaking after he pulled the trigger on his commitment, Abraham Sesay knows full well everything that Notre Dame offers. Speaking to Irish Sports Daily, he said the school offers him the “perfect mix” he was looking for throughout his recruitment.

"I just thought it was a perfect mix of education and football. Just talking with the players, talking with the guys, I just felt like I would be able to fit in. It's an amazing place and I'm very excited to be a part of it."

He also said he came to understand just how amazing South Bend was as he spent more and more time with players and coaches during his visits.

"I felt like my morals and values for the game really matched with the whole entire program, which is why I felt like I was able to be a part of it. That's why I was very, very eager to be able to be a part of it as well."

Sesay also said that he committed on Saturday, during his official visit. That jibes with what some insiders said about how close the 5-star defender was to committing to Notre Dame. Waiting until Tuesday was all about making sure he made the right decision and letting everyone sit on it for a while, for a more dramatic reveal a few days later.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pounder said he's grateful to finally have the process behind him after one of the most heavily recruited stretches of his life. The No. 27-ranked nationally, No. 6 at EDGE, and No. 3-ranked player in the state of Pennsylvania according to the Rivals Industry Rankings has more than 30 offers.

In addition to Notre Dame, he was heavily recruited by Alabama, Auburn, Boston College, California, Duke, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, James Madison, Kentucky, LSU, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, NC State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Northwestern, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, Rutgers, South Carolina, Syracuse, Temple, Tennessee, UConn, USC, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin.

Now that Abraham Sesay has joined Notre Dame’s 2027 class, he’s the 18th commit and the fourth player Charlie Partridge has reeled in for his position group. He joins David Folorunsho (DT), Aidan O'Neil (Edge), and Jackson Vaughn (Edge).
