As the college football calendar moves toward a dead period, the Notre Dame football team is still working hard to secure a foothold and a strong start in the 2028 cycle. To that end, wide receiver Kellen Miller was one of the first offers the Irish made at his position in his class. After making that offer, it’s clear that Marcus Freeman and Co. can compete and have already made a strong impression with the young pass catcher.
That it took some work to get an offer for Miller likely makes it all the sweeter. After multiple trips to South Bend and a previous plan to camp in South Bend that was derailed by an injury, Miller finally earned an offer from the Irish earlier this week.
Miller spoke to Irish Sports Daily right after he got the offer from Notre Dame and noted he received it from his soon-to-be position coach. Mike Brown extended the offer, and the young wideout has already struck up a good relationship.
Brown made it clear why he felt comfortable pulling the trigger on the 6-foot-1, 195-pounder.
Kellen Miller’s South Bend ties could help Notre Dame football’s 2028 push
"He said that I had some great film, he liked my size and that I'm very versatile for being this big and they like what they saw," Miller explained. "They just wanted to check the last box of seeing me in person. Then he said once they got that, they were all set."
Miller is a 3-star 2028 wide receiver from Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan, and is ranked No. 679 nationally, No. 102 at the wide receiver position, and No. 17 in the state of Michigan, in the 247Sports Composite. He doesn’t yet have a ranking from Rivals, but considering the schools that have already come calling, it won’t take long until his profile really starts taking off.
He already has more than 20 offers. In addition to Notre Dame, Miller has interest from Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Kent State, Kentucky, Louisville, Marshall, Miami (OH), Ohio, Pittsburgh, Toledo, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Western Michigan, and Wisconsin.
While he’s drawing plenty of G6 attention, he’s getting more and more Power 4 programs looking his way. That was underlined when he got an offer from the Hoosiers.
While he’s becoming one of the more sought-after wide receivers in Michigan, he has family ties to Notre Dame that could play a big part. Kellen Miller’s grandfather is from South Bend and will almost certainly want to see his grandson give the town a real look.
