The Notre Dame football team’s recruiting efforts are spinning up quite impressively this spring. While the winter saw the team suffer some serious setbacks, it appears that the program is having a bit of a comeback. That includes the possibility that it will be landing one of the better defensive line prospects in the 2026 class this May.

The Fighting Irish have been going hard after one Bastrop, Texas defender Tiki Hola and that effort means that they have gone from being in the prospects Top 5 in January and now in the Final 3. Hola will be announcing his commitment on May 10 and while he’s made comments in the past about wanting to stay home, the Blue and Gold appear to be in good standing.

Notre Dame football is a front runner for defensive tackle prospect

Hola, a 4-star defensive lineman according to the On3 industry rankings is said to be down to the Irish, USC and SMU. There was a time when the Longhorns looked like the front runner instead of Marcus Freeman’s squad but that has apparently changed since earlier this winter.

"Me and my family we go back and forth almost every single day because we have some family down in Round Rock and Austin and so we go back and forth all the time so it'd be really easy [going to Texas] because it's just right there," Hola told 247Sports back then. Since then it looks like Notre Dame football has made a run.

It appears that Oregon has also for some reason fallen off for the No. 33 defensive lineman and the No. 53 player in the state of Texas.

The Notre Dame football team has been named a leader in the race for several very good players. Quite a few of them are on the defeensive side of the ball. The Irish will find out if they won another when Tiki Hola pulls the trigger on May 10.
