Notre Dame Football suffering setback as legacy prospect looks headed to bitter rival

The Notre Dame football team thought it was in good standing, but it looks like the Irish couldn't fight off a Big Ten Power.

For the most part, the Notre Dame football team is having a pretty good go of it. They took care of business significantly against the Florida State Seminoles. They moved up a spot in the College Football Playoff Rankings, and they’ve secured a couple of commits in the last few days.

Unfortunately, not everything is going exactly right when it comes to recruiting. Every team this time of year is going to have some setbacks. However, losing out on a legacy recruit is a special kind of hurt.

Something shifted for Notre Dame football in its pursuit of Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng. Despite impressing him on a recent visit, recruiting analysts see the 4-star linebacker headed to a bitter rival. It looks like the younger brother of Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah is headed to the Michigan Wolverines.

Notre Dame football is losing a big legacy prospect in Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng

On Wednesday morning, 247Sports analyst Tom Loy put in a Crystal Ball for the talented recruit to head to the Wolverines. But that’s not the worst part.

It would be one thing if Loy was the only one who who was making this prediction. But it looks like the industry in general sees a shift in the landscape. One has to wonder just what happened here.

The obvious answer is NIL, but that’s not always the end all and be all. However, considering it felt as though Owusu-Boateng liked what he saw from his trip to South Bend, it’s a bit surprising just how fast things shifted.

Notre Dame football fans will want to keep an eye on this. There’s still about a month until National Signing Day. Things could happen quickly.
