The last Notre Dame football player to enter the portal during the winter window has found his new home.
Rocco Spindler was among the small group of players who entered the portal right after the Fighting Irish played in the National Championship game. He, along with Pat Coogan were offensive line departures that have been billed as a sign of the depth of the Blue and Gold’s offensive line for 2025 as both men were starters this year thanks to injuries.
Coogan will be playing his days never being daunted as he headed off to Indiana. Rocco Spindler will be witnessing the glory of the corn as he goes from the Notre Dame football program to the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Former Notre Dame football offensive lineman finds his new home
Even with the depth of the Fighting Irish heading into the next season, it’s never great to see guys like Pendleton and Spindler moving on from the program. However, there is a bit of a bright spot for those who still enjoy sticking it to rival teams.
The Michigan Wolverines tried their best to get both offensive linemen. They are in fact, desperate to land some offensive line help for the 2025 campaign. Both Pendleton and Spindler apparently gave a very hearty “no thanks” to the historical rival.
Spindler especially seemed to stiff arm Sherrod Moore’s advances considering that he’s from Detroit. There’s a special little kick in the pants for UM fans considering both players are headed to Big Ten teams.
While Notre Dame football fans will almost certainly miss seeing Spindler and Coogan help the Irish try and return to the College Football Playoffs, they can also take great joy in watching both players try and help their new teams keep Michigan away from the postseason field.
