Now that the Notre Dame football team has officially advanced to the second round of the playoffs, the focus in South Bend has mostly been on what injured players might be back for the game against the Georgia Bulldogs.
While it’s still an open question for Rocco Spindler, there appears to be optimism around Rylie Mills and Jeremiyah Love being available for the New Year’s Day game. And now it looks like there’s even more optimism for a linebacker that most Fighting Irish fans were counting out.
Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa had been thought to be done for the rest of the Notre Dame football season merely because there hadn’t been any updates on his status lately. However an update did come on Sunday from an unlikely source and it appears the linebacker might be available next week.
Notre Dame football getting a linebacker for Sugar Bowl?
Taliuta Viliamu-Asa, KVA’s mother says that her son will be there for the game. “He will be there,” she wrote on Twitter after an Irish fan asked if the linebacker would be back for Georgia.
Of course, that doesn’t mean that Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa will play. It’s possible that he’s juust joining the team in an emergency situation.
But it looks like he is trending in the right direction to suit up again. Viliamu-Asa isn’t a starter, but but he has contributed plenty this fall, with 29 tackles, 1 sack, 1 pass defended and 1 interception. His return for Notre Dame football would be a great to see in this very important game.
