While the Notre Dame football team is hoping to find a leader at quarterback for the 2025 season, it already has a budding superstar in its backfield.

Jeremiah Love had a phenomenal 2024 season but he really announced his presence with authority during the College Football playoffs. Whether it was the game-changing run for a touchdown against the Indiana Hoosiers or when he broke all the tackles to score against Penn State, the college football world saw how good Love is and can continue to be.

It appears the rest of the country is figuring out what Notre Dame football fans have known for a while now. The running back is one of the best players in the country. Earlier this week, ESPN showed it has finally figured that out with its “way too early” All-American team, that included Love as the only offensive representative of the Fighting Irish.

Jeremiah Love gets Notre Dame football on an All-American list

On Chris Low’s list, Love is joined in the backfield by a running back he faced off against in the College Football Playoffs. He and Nicholas Singleton are the First Team All-American running backs. While another Penn State back, Kaytron Allen is second team. Missouri’s Ahmad Hardy is the other second team back on ESPN’s list.

Low explained why he put Love on the team writing:

“Love epitomized Notre Dame's march to the national championship game last season. He weathered injuries, especially in the postseason, but never quit fighting. With an offseason to return to health, Love is poised to be one of the most productive running backs in college football. He scored 19 touchdowns a year ago and was a nightmare to tackle, whether he was running through defenders, dashing past them or hurdling over them.”

While Jeremiyah Love is the only First Team offensive player on the list, defensive back Leonard Moore made the team on the defensive side of the ball. That’s impressive enough in its own right, as it means the freshman showed this past season that Low is convinced he’s going to be a star.

Notre Dame football does have one more player mentioned. Offensive lineman Billy Schrauth was on the second team way too early All-American team.
