As Notre Dame football was preparing for the season, tight end Ty Washington had circled the Arkansas game in red. He explained there wasn't any love lost between himself and the Razorbacks staff before also explaining that when the Irish visited Fayetteville, he knew what to expect.
"They get loud. The fanbase gets in there quick. Student section gets in there fast," Washington said before adding a caveat. "But if you really shut them out quick, it'll be done. The fanbase will be quiet. Everybody [will] go home. It's too hot. It's too hot at Arkansas. So everybody wants to go home if they lose."

Notre Dame didn't shut out Arkansas in the first half, but they did blow them out. When halftime arrived, the Irish had a 42-13 lead. It got so bad that head coach Sam Pittman's squad was serenaded with boos and chants of "Let's Go Irish" as they walked to their home locker room.
Rivals analyst Tyler Horka showed just how correct Washington was. He posted a picture of the stadium as the second half began. The picture demonstrated that most of the fans who weren't there to cheer on the Blue and Gold had packed up and gone home.
Things didn't get better for Pittman or his team in the second half. Against a Notre Dame football defense that had been much maligned all season, the Razorbacks struggled on offense, getting just 158 yards and not scoring a single point. It seems likely that Marcus Freeman's squad might have thrown a final shovel of dirt on Sam Pittman's grave as a head coach.
