One of the bonuses of having Noah Grubbs in the boat already is that the Notre Dame football team doesn’t have to spend its time and capital on a 2026 quarterback prospect. Instead, Marcus Freeman and company fully turn their attention to the 2027 class.

Among the top targets in that 2027 class is one gunslinger in particular. In fact it looks like the Fighting Irish have pinpointed the top target at the position. While Jameson Purcell hasn’t been dubbed as “the guy” yet, it’s looking more and more like the Blue and Gold like what they see.

Earlier this week, the Park Ridge, Illinois gunslinger came to South Bend so that the coaching staff could see him and sell him on why Notre Dame football should be one of his top schools. The Irish haven’t given Purcell an offer yet, but it certainly seems like it’s heading that way.

“A Notre Dame offer would be really big for me.” Purcell told On3. “Growing up in Chicago, I have gone to so many games at ND and have always loved the traditions and incredible fan base.”

While Purcell hasn’t gotten an offer from Notre Dame, the Irish are one of the only big power schools that given him one. Arkansas, Auburn, Bowling Green, Colorado State, Florida, Georgia, and Louisville among many others are banging down the door for Purcell.

Quarterbacks coach Gino Guidugli is planning on spending the spring evaluating who the Notre Dame football team will focus on. It certainly seems as though Purcell could be that guy.
