Notre Dame football commit blasts off in senior season debut
While Notre Dame football fans continue to worry about whether or not Deuce Knight is headed to Auburn, it’s important to remember that the Fighting Irish have another very talented quarterback coming to South Bend in the not-too-distant future. Noah Grubbs is one of the best quarterbacks in the 2026 class, and the Lake Mary gunslinger also happens to be a very solid commit to Marcus Freeman and company.
Just how good is Grubbs? He’s still got some growing and developing to do. And he’ll almost certainly focus on that during his senior high school season now that his college choice is out of the way.
So far so good on that note. The Notre Dame football commit played his first regular season game of the 2024 campaign on Friday and he and his fourth-ranked Lake Mary team were as good as advertised against Cardinal Gibbons.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, Grubbs’ Rams romped to a 49-20 over the Chiefs to open the regular season 1-0. While Lake Mary leaned on the running game more than the star quarterback’s arm, the signal-caller still managed to throw two touchdowns.
The Fighting Irish commit’s teammate, Isaiah Thomas, caught a TD pass from Grubbs and ran for another. Gavin Isaacs and Jaysen Soto each had two rushing touchdowns as the Rams ran wild.
Grubbs’ second touchdown pass was a 43-yarder to Terrance Dixon.
The performance was the Notre Dame recruit’s statement that he doesn’t need to be perfect and put up massive numbers every week for Lake Mary to win. However, there will undoubtedly be games this year where he needs to make fans’ eyes pop.
He’s shown more than a few times that he can do that when the situation demands it.
In a preseason game the week before last, the Notre Dame football commit threw for three touchdowns in a 40-18 warmup victory over Oviedo.
