The Notre Dame football team is busy picking up the pieces from the official decommitment of Deuce Knight on Wednesday night. Things are a bit darker than a normal decommit, in part because Knight seemed like he was so solid for so long.

While the coaches knew for a while that Auburn was putting on the full-court press, there was still some hope that the Fighting Irish could fight off the SEC squad. While the push to keep Knight ultimately, failed, the Blue and Gold does have another quarterback commit who wants people to know that he’s sticking around.

Noah Grubbs is one of the best quarterbacks in the 2026 class and he pulled the trigger early in the process for Notre Dame football. Irish fans can’t be blamed for wondering if he might not eventually head somewhere else, considering he’s from Florida. However, the 4-star gunslinger has done everything he could - including yet another visit for the Louisville game - to show that he’s very much on board.

On Wednesday night, not long after Knight announced his flip to Auburn, Grubbs made sure to post on social media to show he was still very much committed. “Irish Nation,” Grubbs wrote. WE Stand on BUSINESS.” Alongside a picture of he and his family standing behind a Fighting Irish flag.

It’s a simple gesture, but one that Irish fans will no doubt find helpful. There’s no doubt that plenty of fans immediately started wondering if Grubbs might be the next to go.

It’s been a tough summer recruiting-wise. There’s been far too many losses in head-to-head battles for some of the top prospects.

There is of course, a long time between now and when Noah Grubbs can sign his national letter of intent. There are going to be plenty of times when people start to worry about keeping him in the fold.

As the calendar moves closer to focusing on the 2026 class, the Florida quarterback is going to get lots of suitors. But for now, he’s in the boat for the Notre Dame football team and he’s showing that he’s still very much solid on that decision. It’s a nice sentiment following Wednesday’s disappointment.
